In this unit, we will explore and connect John Steinbeck's novella, Of Mice and Men, with the historical context that served as Steinbeck's inspiration for the novella. 


We invite you to examine and explore what life was like during the 1930s. 

Learning Objectives

By the end of the unit, you will be able to:

1) determine the difference between primary and secondary sources.

2) understand the circumstances of the 1930s using primary and secondary sources.

3) logically infuse research into a narrative in order to compose a piece of historical fiction.

4) write a piece of historical fiction that includes the elements of plot--exposition, rising action,
 climax, falling action, and resolution.  

5) properly cite sources using MLA format.
